Father’s Day: Honoring Him and His Hard Works

History and Background:

Fathers have long been given importance and respect, even 4000 years ago when a young Babylonian boy wished his father a good life and health by sending a card made of clay. This card had a delightful Father’s Day message engraved on it and since then, the trends of giving cards to the fathers to praise their hard work was adopted. However, Father’s Day was envisioned by Sonora Dodd in the year 1909 and the day was given its spotlight in the year 1910, in USA. Sonora Dodd had an idea of dedicating a day to her father due to all sacrifices and stress he embraced while raising her and her brothers up.  Miss Dodd later got in talks with the Spokane Ministerial Alliance and requested a special day for her father as well as fathers across the world. The Alliance chose the third Sunday of the month and called it a Father’s Day. Today, Father’s Day is celebrated by every son and daughter throughout the world. According to a research, more than fifty countries celebrate Father’s Day with joy.

Dining On the Day:

In these days, people celebrate the Father’s Day by giving gifts and greeting cards to their fathers. Family dinners and parties are arranged in many houses too; people tend to prepare the meals, which their fathers love. Unlike other festivals such as Christmas and Easter, there are no special traditional Father’s Day dishes – although it is all about giving your father his favorite meals on the day. Daughters usually prepare the dishes which their fathers like or might like to eat; many recipes from the internet are taken and each year there is something special to cook. People who emphasis more on the Father’s Day meals prefer serving food in a different and nicer way (than they usually do before having meals) – tables are decorated with napkins, aromatic candles, centre pieces and the food is served in very elegant crockery.

Giving Presents on the Day:

On Father’s Day, all the loving sons and daughters wish their fathers long life and thank them for all of stress they have tolerated and every good thing they have done for their children. It is the perfect day for you to express your point of views and feelings for your father; it is a perfect moment to tell your father that you are nothing without his support. Cheer you father by giving him presents on Father’s Day. Items, which can be gifted to a father, are large in variety; famous Father’s Day gifts include watches, electronics, suiting, perfumes and a lot more. Nevertheless, you can make your father glad by gifting him something that might help him in his daily life. It is advised that you go out in the malls and do a survey first.

Smarter Ways of Wishing Your Dad:

Without wasting too much time, people tend to wish their fathers by a single click - -thanks to the latest technologies. Wishing father has been made easy with the help of cell phones, as sending Father’s Day text messages is a quicker way. Nonetheless, if your father is a regular internet user, wish him by sending e-card on this e-mail account. People in olden days used to wish their parents by sending greeting card and letter through mail box – today, Father’s Day SMS have taken over the older trends.
